EIA's McCurdy's Statement on Passage of U.S.-Oman Free Trade Agreement

Arlington, VA – Electronic Industries Alliance (EIA) President and CEO, Dave McCurdy issued the following statement today after the United States House of Representatives passed the U.S.–Oman Free Trade Agreement by a vote of 221-205.

"I'm pleased at the outcome of today's vote in the House.

"The U.S.-Oman Free Trade Agreement will eliminate tariffs on all manufactured U.S. exports, allowing EIA's member companies the opportunity to compete on a level playing field in Oman. Trade between the U.S. and Oman already exceeds $1 billion annually, and with this agreement American companies have the chance to expand sales in a critical part of the world.

"EIA is pleased the U.S.-Oman Free Trade Agreement has been approved by both houses of Congress and we look forward to the President signing it into law."

The Senate passed the U.S.-Oman Free Trade Agreement on June 29 by a vote of 60-34.
