Refrigerant Life Cycle Assessment Survey
Background
The refrigerant life cycle emissions assessment (LCA) will be a first-of-its-kind tool designed to enhance understanding and decision making around the full climate impacts of both virgin and reclaimed refrigerants.
This is a California Air Resources Board (CARB) funded project implemented by the Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA) and Vermont Energy Investment Corporation (VEIC). The end product will be a modeling tool which will enable users to quantify, analyze, and compare the total life cycle emissions of various fluorinated and non-fluorinated virgin and reclaimed refrigerants within a given sectoral application in the cooling and heating sector.
Request for Participation
We are seeking broad industry and stakeholder input into the development of the LCA tool, including from refrigerant producers, distributors, equipment manufacturers and other end users of refrigerant, reclaimers, destruction operators, and contractors. Participation includes collection of robust quantitative and qualitative data informing the tool and its underlying inputs and assumptions. Any information reported through these surveys will be treated with strict confidentiality and used solely for the purposes of this project. Data gathered will be anonymized and aggregated to inform the LCA tool. Our teams are happy to discuss any procedures, such as an NDA, your company may need to ensure confidentiality of the data.
